Europe Bans Hundreds of Herbal Remedies

A law to ban hundreds of herbs has now been approved in Europe. The reason for this, the governing bodies say, is to regulate the industry and to protect consumers. Certain herbs will not be able to be bought over the counter and will have to be prescribed by 'regulated' herbalists.

It sounds great that authorities are worried about your health but lets put things in perspective. According to the US National Poison Data System there were no deaths from herbs in 2008. Nor were there any deaths from vitamins and minerals. On the other hand modern medicine, according to Dr Gary Null and his medical researchers in their 'Death by Medicine' report, is responsible for almost 800,000 deaths per year... in the U.S alone !!! In this age where we have access to so much information and education regarding our health we are being treated like idiots. Why? Why are they banning herbs that cause no damage when taken as recommended? I think it's because Big Pharma is worried about losing the monopoly it now has in the market. More and more people are using natural medicine. More people are questioning and taking responsibility for their own health. Herbs, vitamins and minerals cannot be patented so there is little money to be made from them. Big Pharma is about making money... and boy, do they make heaps of it!

Coke continues using BPA's despite health concerns

Manufacturers including Nestle and Heinz have begun phasing out the use of BPA's in their packaging and many other manufacturers are following suit in light of research that this toxin is responsible for infertility, early onset puberty, destruction of sperm, genetic defects, breast cancer and a host of other ills. Coca-cola, however, refuses to remove BPA's from their packaging, claiming that these BPA's are safe. Even though 24% of the companies share holders voted to remove this poison Coca-cola CEO, Muhtar Kent, advised that it would remain. Unfortunately, it's our children and teens who will innocently suffer the brunt of this corporate ignorance. When will these multi million dollar corporations start behaving responsibly and ethically? Again, vote with your dollar.

Isn’t man an amazing animal? He kills wildlife- birds, kangaroo, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice, foxes and dingoes- by the millions in order to protect his domestic animals and their feed. Then he kills domestic animals by the billions and eats them. This in turn kills man by the millions, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative and fatal health conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. So then man tortures and kills millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases. Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals. Meanwhile, some people are dying of sad laughter at the absurdity of man, who kills so easily and violently, and once a year sends out cards praying for “Peace on Earth".

Doubts over "safe" drug

I read an interesting article in The Independent recently. A drug given to diabetics to maintain blood sugar levels has now been linked to the possibility of increased heart attacks. Unfortunately, 87% of the scientists who backed this 'wonder' drug also had a financial interest in the company manufacturing the drug.

It's time we had some independent research companies with no affiliation to the drug in question analyse drugs from a non biased, factual perspective.

It's a shame these 'health experts' can't put our health before their dividends.

The Rise of Complementary Medicine

Complentary Medicine is loosely defined as ‘traditional or alternative medicines’ and includes herbal medicines, vitamin and mineral supplements, other nutritional supplements, traditional medicines such as Ayurvedic medicines and traditional Chinese medicines, homoeopathic medicines, and aromatherapy oils (where they make therapeutic claims). Many Australians consult complementary and alternative practitioners including naturopaths, acupuncturists and Chinese herbal medicine practitioners, who may also directly supply CMs. There has been an increase in the use of CMs by Australians in recent years. A national consumer survey conducted by the National Prescribing Service (NPS) in 2005 found that 52% of Australians used some form of CM. Further, the 2006 NPS national consumer survey showed a significant increase in the proportion of people using CMs rising to 67%.
